"Only great minds can afford a simple living." True to these words, our founder correspondent,
Late Shri. Dr. P. N. Palaniswamy, chose a life of simplicity and purpose while creating
meaningful change through education.
Born on 29 August 1936 into a prosperous agricultural family, he had to discontinue his
schooling due to early family responsibilities. Yet, his lifelong passion for learning
inspired him to give quality education back to society, which led to the birth of
National Model Group of Schools in 1987 with just 2 students and 1 staff member.
With resilience, tireless effort, and deep-rooted principles, he nurtured the school to
grow in leaps and bounds. A true visionary, he introduced holistic learning, extracurricular
activities, and technology enabled teaching decades ahead of time, shaping future ready learners.
In recognition of his dedication, the renowned Popolare University di Milano, Italy,
conferred on him an Honorary Doctorate and Life-Time Achievement Award in 2010. In 2011,
he led students and staff to achieve a Guinness World Record for the Largest Candy Mosaic.
Though he departed in 2012, his values, vision, and guiding principles continue to lead
National Model Group of Schools on its journey of excellence.
